The Final 2015 Word From David Ellis

What an unbelievable year 2015 has been for for Te Akau Racing!

A Premiership in Singapore - a fantastic achievement by Mark, Gus and our whole Kranji team - and Steve and Jamie in front on the Trainers' Premiership in New Zealand on every statistic - stake money, big race/black type wins and number of wins - as you can see below.
On top of this 150 wins for our Te Akau owners for the calendar year - I regard this as an unbelieveable achievement but you can be assured we are not resting on our laurels - my goal for the 2016 calendar year is 200 wins - 100 in New Zealand and 100 in Singapore and we are going to be buying horses in the next month to win those races.
This year we will be attending every major yearling sale in New Zealand and Australia starting next week with the Magic Millions' sale on the Gold Coast.
The Boxing Day races at Ellerslie were a huge success and the Auckland Racing Club put on a superb day of racing. There was a huge crowd and the atmosphere was brilliant! The track was in great shape but I feel a little sorry for the Club today as there is so much rain forecast for tomorrow unfortunately.
Of course I hope that the rain doesn't come until tomorrow night but the weather office seems adamant that there is at least 100 mls coming which will be great for the farm if not the race tracks.
Tomorrow we have two teams racing in New Zealand - Ellerslie with Steve and myself in attendance and also Hawkes Bay where Jamie will be. Added to this is will be great to see Singapore racing kicking off again with a daytime (Singapore - evening NZ) meeting on New Year's Day with a big team in Gus' hands, with Mark heading to the Gold Coast today.
So we will be intending to start the New Year off the way we finished 2015 - and with Scrutinize the hot favourite for the Group 2 Great Northern Guineas at Ellerslie, we hope to start 2016 off in an exciting manner.
I would like to thank all of our owners for your support throughout 2015 and wish you all the very best for 2016. We are putting more time than ever into looking at yearlings for the upcoming sales and there will be some very exciting opportunities for Te Akau owners - with new owners always welcome.
Recently we bought a Savabeel colt for $230,000 at the Ready to Run sale - more people missed out on shares than secured shares and some people were really disappointed - so quickly did the shares sell.
If you want to be on Te Akau's Priority List list for the colt syndicate that we are putting together in order to buy the next Xtravagant this year then email Karyn now - or if you want to be involved in our next Group 1 horse, let us put you on the priority list - this way you will NOT miss out! Email Karyn - [email protected]
All the very best again for 2016 - and have a great night!
Premierships are based on performances during each racing season (August 1st - July 31st). The jockey and trainer with the most wins at the end of the season are the Premiership winners. These statistics are updated daily.
