Travel Update

David and Karyn update:

Well, you tend to forget how long it takes to get to the other side of the world when you haven't made that journey for a couple of years!  At least we did - we left for Singapore at lunchtime on Tuesday and had a four hour lay over in Singapore before the 13 hour flight to London.  The good news is that David travlled well and arrived in good shape.

Arriving at about 6am posed a couple of challenges - especially when Lydia had risen at 4.00 am to come to the airprot to meet us and headed to Terminal 1 (the home of Air NZ) while of course we landed at Terminal 3 (the home of Singapore Airlines) at Heathrow - oops maybe that small detail got lost a little in translation.

Anyway she was soon with us thanks to the joys of texting and it was a terrific family reunion, afterall David hadn't seen her for over a year!  The four of us (daughter Julia Rose is with us too) grabbed a taxi to town and relaxed with a coffee before Lydia headed to work as our room wasn't ready until after lunch (of course)!

We took Julia Rose for her first visit to Harrods where we had lunch in the food hall before heading back to the hotel and checking in.  Did a fair bit of work (emails etc) trying to stave off the tiredness and then met Lydia and her partner Mitch for dinner at their favoruite restaurant in Chinatown.

Bed was top the agenda after dinner - very tired travellers but looking forward to our first full day in London - weather looks great!

We were just thrilled with the results from the Te Teko trials, the season ahead looks really exciting!  We have such a good mixture of experienced horses and up and comers and as the tracks begin to improve, watch for the stable really fire on all cylinders.

We are looking forward to Thrive backing up on Saturday after her gutsy effort for third in the Group 3 Winter Cup.  It is not usually her style to have a quick backup but she has come through the race so well that she deserves her chance again at Riccarton while she is in the south.  Steve O'Neill has done a top job travelling down with her and looking after her.

Also, as it is a public hoiday in Singapore on Friday, watch for the race timings - Friday is a day meeting as opposed to a normal night meeting at Kranji.  All details on our runners can be found on our "starters' page".  Remember too that if you click on the name of the starter, you will go straight to their race record and full details.
