Travel Update

It seems the past fortnight has just sped past us - I (Karyn) am currently sitting at a train station in Montepulicano waiting for the train to Rome.  Lydia and Mitch have said goodbye and trained back to Florence this morning to catch their flight back to London - and start work tomorrow.  Julia Rose is also heading back to London today from Spain and she returns to New Zealand the day after tomorrow, likewise back to work at the Auckland Racing Club.

David as I write is en route to Baden Baden in Germany to attend another horse sale.  He is travelling by road, via Bordeaux!  Of course Bordeaux is also the name of our top colt by High Chaparral from Our Echezeaux that David purchased at this year's Karaka Premier Sale! He will be sending me a full update on his final time in Deauville to share with you soon.  I know another of his highlights was having dinner with Coolmore Stud's John Magnier while he was also attending the Deauville Sale.

I am heading to Rome in an hour for three days there - just on my own - but a city that I really have wanted to visit for years.  It has been a wonderful Italian experience, especially having "the kids" with me - lots of fun and laughter.  It was easy to explore Montepulciano (pictured) - if somewhat hilly!  Just a beautiful and breathtaking part of Tuscany.  There have been many highlights on this visit - but maybe the best was a visit out to a local vineyard called Avignonesi, arranged by Lydia - and I was treated byt her to lunch there - gorgeous - pictured below.

Looking forward to staying in touch and we are just thrilled with Jason's start to the new season with two winners at Taupo on Monday (time difference made it a long night tho'!) - we are very much looking forward to the new season!  We'll be in touch again soon!
