Two Winning Weekend

David writes:

No runners in New Zealand this weekend for us but from now on, it is full steam ahead and it will be Te Akau runners everywhere and certainly every weekend - as the tracks improve!

Next Saturday we will have runners at Hawke's Bay and at Ruakaka with some of our promising horses stepping out at both meetings.  Next week a team of Te Akau horses will also head to the South Island with Pam Gerard and as we know, Te Akau has experienced huge success in the south, including seven Group 1 Guineas' wins.

Yes Spring is in the air!!

In Singapore our trainer Mark Walker welcomed another two winners home - King Savinsky (who I bought from the Karaka Select Sale for $90,000) and Keen Dragon.  What an unbelievable season Mark and the team are having - Karyn and I will be watching the Kranji coverage tonight for sure!

This morning we had a very old friend of mine Don Hancock visit the farm.  Don has had a lifetime in racing and was General Manager of the Bay of Plenty Racing Club in New Zealand before moving to the Gold Coast to live where he became the Managing Director of Magic Millions. He really turned that company around.  We had a really enjoyable catch up and look around the farm which has changed a lot since Don was last here.

Tomorrow I will be in Matamata to inspect all the horses and Tuesday I will be back home at Te Akau Stud as Karyn heads to Wellington for an Arts' Council meeting.  Then on Wednesday night we will meet up in Auckland for the birthday party of dear friends who are also celebrating a New Year's Honours' award.

So a busy few days ahead - before I sign off though I did want to speak a little about a horse that has really impressed me lately and that is the Coats Choice colt that we bought in the South Island (pictured below at the sale).  This horse has really taken off and has caught my eye with the way he has developed since being broken in.

We purchased him very cheaply and he an ideal horse for you to enjoy with some friends.  He is the only one of two horses that we have shares remaining in (the other being the promising Iffraaj filly that also came out of the South Island sale) so if you would like to be involved at very little cost please call us this weekend on 07 825 4701 or email Karyn - [email protected] - you and your friends will be made very welcome.
