Jason Bridgman believes the best will be seen of Abidewithme as a five-year-old but in the meantime she has a chance on Saturday to end her current campaign in style.

Abidewithme is one of two runners Bridgman has accepted with in the Gr. 2 Travis Stakes at Te Rapa, with the talented Thy also in the mix.

“She'll run if the track's right for her and if there's a deterioration then I'm happy to turn her out and wait,” said Bridgman.

“Next season she can make the step up to Group One company.”

Neither Abidewithme or Thy had any luck when out of the money in the Gr. 1 Manco Easter Handicap at Ellerslie.

“Abidewithme had the worst run in the race,” said Bridgman. “She botched the start and clipped heels at the 900 and lost a position. Then she was pushed down on the fence and couldn't get to the part of the track where they were making ground.

“Nothing went right but she still ran on and was less than two lengths from the winner and she's taken no harm from the run.”

While Thy beat only two runners home, she was less than four lengths off Albany Reunion and Bridgman said she had progressed since the event.

“She got back and nothing was making ground and the rail was off,” said Bridgman. “Her closing sectionals were as good as anything in front of her.

“She looks great and has been working great. The key factors for her will be stepping up to 2000 metres and going left-handed and she's got form on rain-affected tracks.

The stable's confidence in Thy was also boosted after her effort for seventh in the Gr. 1 Fiber Fresh  New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes two runs back.

“Leith (Innes) got off her after Te Aroha and said she could win the Travis,” Bridgman said.
