Winner: Harry Met Sally Super
11 March, 2026
Race experience was to the fore when Harry Met Sally (2 g Yes Yes Yes – Agueda, by General Nediym) won the A$32,000 Global Turf Maiden 2YO 1200 metres on 3 March at Ballarat (Victoria).
A trial winner before debuting in the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (1000m) in October, Harry Met Sally indicated he was ready to resume after quickening very well to win a trial on 29 January at Caulfield.
He closed solidly for third fresh-up at Pakenham, and found the line solidly for fourth in a strong field for the 2YO 1000 metres on 28 February at Flemington.
Against of field of mainly debutantes, and following two good efforts this time in, Harry Met Sally used his race experience to affect a good win.
Although not rushed, Harry Met Sally tracked three-wide with cover at the back of a small field, ranged ominously into contention rounding the home turn and sustained a strong gallop after quickening to lead at the 200m.
Winning going away by one and three-quarter lengths, he ran 1200 metres in 1:12.1 on Good4 footing, and paid $3.30 & $1.60 on the NZ TAB tote.
“It was a good ride by Lachie Neindorf to give the horse time to settle and he had plenty to offer when presented in the straight,” said trainer Mark Walker.
“He’s a horse that since we’ve gelded him, his form has been really good and great to get a win for Brae Sokolski (YES Bloodstock) and his team of owners.
“He’d raced well against a strong field last start at Flemington, and to win today at his fourth start will give him a lot of confidence.
“It was a good call by our assistant trainer Ben Gleeson to line him up in this race and he was confident the horse had done well since racing a fortnight ago.
“It showed the short turnaround was no issue and that the horse is thriving on work and racing.”
Harry Met Sally was bred by Brae Sokolski and is owned by Yes Bloodstock (Mgr: B F Sokolski), Jomara Bloodstock Ltd (Mgr: M P Carter), M C Scown, D Swiatlo, N Gold, Dr D Goldbloom & D Harris.
By Australian Champion Three-Year-Colt and $13 million Everest (1200m) winner Yes Yes Yes (Rubick), Harry Met Sally is out of dual winning sprinter Agueda (General Nediym), who was also multiple Group and Listed placed.
Agueda has proven to be an excellent broodmare, with Harry Met Sally her seventh individual winner, including 12-time winner Heat (Smart Missile), while her yearling colt, a beautiful specimen by Hellbent (I Am Invincible), sold for A$260,000 the 2026 Gold Coast Yearling Sale in January.
Sokolski has a strong connection to the stallion Yes Yes Yes, having shared in racing him, while also being involved in the ownership of World Champion Mare and Group 1 Melbourne Cup winner Verry Elleegant (Zed) and triple Group 1 winner Incentivise (Shamus Award).
Harry Met Sally carries a nicely balanced cross through his sire lines of Northern Dancer and Blushing Groom in his dam lines.
Harry Met Sally was strapped by Emma Wilson.
