Wonderful New Opportunity

Today I have purchased a beautiful Mastercraftsman filly out of the Gone West mare Down View - Gone West is Mr Prospector's most successful son at stud.  

Down View is a half sister to a Champion 2 year old and Champion 3 year old Mexican Rose (Volksraad).  

Recently as you know I have been travelling around Europe and listening and talking to every expert in the racing industry and the one thing that kept coming through was just how highly they rate the stock of Mastercraftsman. 

I only bought one of his progeny at Karaka this year (a colt) and I thought that I would like to have another one in our stable, this time a filly.  So when I arrived home I commissioned New Zealand Bloodstock agent Danny Rolston to give me a list of every Mastercraftsman in New Zealand that was available for sale. 

Danny came back and quoted me this Mastercraftsman/Down View filly which I duly inspected before I went into hospital.  She is an absolutely stunning filly. She has been completely broken in and is ready to resume work.  She was broken in by Jeremy Whale, a respected horse breaker from Diamond Lodge.

Jeremy said - “she broke in well, has a great natural action and an excellent attitude. She will make into a real race horse.”

Recently a very good client of mine purchased a half share in Mexican Rose and we sent her to O'Reilly.  She has just foaled a lovely colt by O'Reilly and has been served this week by Burgundy so I can really see that it is a family on the improve.

I paid $120,000 plus GST for this filly and believe that this is excellent value.  A 10% share would be $12,000 plus GST, plus approximately $1,000 in costs including insurance etc. Of course another bonus with this filly is that she is already broken in - those hard yards have been successfully completed which makes her even better value.

This is a quality filly with an international pedigree. The mare was actually purchased by Sir Mark Todd who bred from her before he recently sold all his bloodstock in New Zealand.
