Wow! Flying Family on Fire

There's a lot to be said about family ties - our Savabeel colt from the Magic Millions' Sale has had a massive pedigree update - and it was a ripper of a pedigree to start with!

If you were watching Caulfield on Saturday you would have seen Revolutionary Miss win the last, the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes.  With Michael Dee in the saddle (former Te Akau apprentice) she dealt to the field by almost two lengths.

Revolutionary Miss is the 4YO half sister to our exciting Savabeel/Purcentage colt bought from the Magic Millions' Sale - and she's in the form of her life.

Let's check out our boy's sister:

Revolutionary Miss was runner up at just her second start in the Group 3 Widden Stakes in Sydney in March 2022; she then won the Group 2 Blue Diamond Prelude before being beaten a nose in the Group 1 Blue Diamond at Caulfield. Later that year she was runner up in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas; she won the Group 2 Kewney Stakes in March 2023 at Flemington, followed by a second placing in the Group 2 Sunline Stakes at Moonee Valley later that month.

A win in the Group 3 Summoned Stakes followed in December 2023 at Caulfield before she was third in the Restricted Listed A$1 million Magic Millions Cup at the Gold Coast in January this year.  Her red hot form obviously carried her on to win the Group 3 Tressady Stakes in early February at Flemington, before last weekend's decisive Group 3 Mannerism win.

It's a wonderful family to be involved with - and the action doesn't stop there: his late brother Equation won four races in a row, culminating in a Listed Canberra Guineas' win before sadly passing away.

Looking through this family, there is just so much upside - you need just think of Glorious Days, the eight-time winner, whose victories included the Group 1 Hong Kong Mile and Group 2 HKJC Mile as well as runner up in the Group 1 Hong Kong Mile and Group 1 Champions' Mile - he also won a Listed Steward's Cup in Hong Kong as well as being runner up in both the Listed Queen's Jubilee Silver Cup and Listed Chairman's Trophy there.

We could go on - it's a family overflowing with top class winners, with plenty of juvenile success too.

Bottom line is this colt was incredible value for money - his excellent pedigree matches his very good looks, he ticks every box on every level.

We are staggered there are still shares* available in him:

A 20% share is $68,000 +gst

A 15% share is $51,000 +gst

A 10% share is $34,000 +gst

A 5% share is $17,000 +gst

A 2.5% share is $8,500 +gst

* your share of insurance, post-sale transport, Magic Millions' entry additional

Savabeel has been Champion NZ Sire for eight consecutive seasons - with 32 Group 1 winners on his honour roll.  Savabeel’s exemplary record of achievement extends to a consistent 72 per cent winners to runners ratio and 11 per cent stakes' winners to runners ratio.

Numbers don't lie: no-one has had more success with Savabeel's progeny than Te Akau - we have bought/trained over a third of his Group 1 winners, and over a third of his overall stakes' winners too.

Our Savabeel Group 1 winners bought/trained by Te Akau are:

Dual Horse of the Year Probabeel, Noverre, Pris De Fer, Cool Aza Beel, Sword of Osman, Embellish, Hall of Fame, The Perfect Pink, Amarelinha, Savy Yong Block and Skew Wiff.

DID YOU ALSO KNOW:

TDN (Thoroughbred Daily News, Australia & NZ - now TTR) recently published an independent analyst's report confirming that the best thoroughbred judge in Australasia (based on Group/Listed wins) is Te Akau’s David Ellis CNZM and in fact, he came out on top internationally:

David Ellis CNZM (Te Akau) — 17.02% stakes’ winners to purchases: on raw numbers, founder and principal of Te Akau Racing in New Zealand — David Ellis — performed as the top purchaser of yearlings globally on our buyer dataset between 2015–2021. They identified 188 yearling purchases, and with a stakes’ return of 32 winners (17.02%)

We are proud of David's exceptional success from Magic Millions' yearling sales - his astute judgement has seen him purchase outstanding racehorses such as the world's current No.1 sprinter and winner of nine Group 1 titles Imperatriz, as well as other Group 1 winners in Sword of State, Princess Coup, Tell A Tale, Costa Viva and many others.  Imperatriz of course won more Group 1 races in 2023 than any other horse globally.

On Saturday we saw unbeaten 2YO filly Captured By Love (purchased in 2023 for our Magic Millions' filly partnership) make it four wins from four starts.  Her victory in the Group 2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes is her second Group 2 title, along with a Group 3 as well, from these four appearances.  Her 'partnership mate' The Victress is also already a winner too.

The success of David's Magic Millions' purchases continued when 6YO mare Campionessa then strode to victory in the Group 2 Peter Young Stakes at Caulfield just two hours later, defeating two former Melbourne Cup winners in the process!

Outstanding records don't stop there - Inglis recently pointed out David Ellis's buying record in Sydney to us:

77% winners to runners

39% black type horses to runners

30% stakes' winners to runners

With stakes increasing significantly in New Zealand and our Cranbourne stable having one of the best strike rates in metropolitan Victoria, there's never been a better time to be involved with the tangerine team!

"Te Akau's Australia stable is firing at an impressive 31% in metropolitan Victoria" - racing.com (and that was before Campionessa's stirring victory on Saturday)!!

PS We have called this colt "Erdos" after Paul Erdos who is highly regarded as the most productive mathematician in history.
