Wow What a Weekend

It has been quite a weekend for Te Akau's Singapore stable as trainer Mark Walker saw not one, not two, not three but FOUR winners salute the judge.

It all started on Friday night when Smileswithhiseyes signalled what was to come with a narrow but determined win.  Not long after, it was the turn of Dreamcatcher to claim his victory and then the final hurrah of Friday belonged to Encosta Diablo who was purchased by David at Karaka.

Sunday races at Kranji saw the continued success of the stable.  This time it was Rise 'n' Shine who was also purchased by David at Karaka.  The son of Zabeel and that very good racemare Kay's Awake was having only his third start and top Singapore rider Manuel Nunes was again aboard.

It was a wise decision on the part of the owners to send him to our Singapore stable unraced as he was immediately eligible for $65,000 maiden (initiation) races.  Rise 'n' Shine made an immediate impact in Singapore winning on debut in February and he was a very close second last start.

With tonight's second win, his stakes are now closing in on $75,000.  He is a real up and comer -  and we think he has real ability - watch this space for his next steps!

We were also delighted that co-owners of Rise 'n' Shine, Ian and Wendy Jeffery were able to be on hand to celebrate such a wonderful occasion.

War Affair, another David Ellis purchase from Karaka was too good for his opposition in the $250,000 feature - the Group 3 Singapore 3YO Sprint over 1200m.  The son of O'Reilly was purchased by David for only $70,000 and has earned over $700,000 to date.  He was named Champion 2YO of last season and is another champion bought by David - joining the likes of King's Chapel, Darci Brahma, Maroofity, Princess Coup, Flying Fulton, Warhorse and others.
