Xtravagant Early Derby Fave

Xtravagant may not be a likely starter in the Gr. 1 New Zealand Derby, but the spectacular 2000 Guineas winner has nevertheless opened as the $8 favourite in the TAB's fixed-odds market for the $750,000 classic at Ellerslie.

Trainers Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards have indicated that the son of Pentire is more likely to head to Melbourne to contest the Australian Guineas at Flemington.

Others prominent in the early betting include Zacada ($12), Slice Of Cake ($14), Scrutinize ($16), Dragon Dancer ($18), Risque ($18), Collaborate ($21), Selfie ($21), Sultan Of Swing ($21), Ali Baba ($26), Tavago ($26) and Mongolian Warrior ($26).

Note - Xtravagant has already been installed as second and third favourite for the 2016 Group 1 WS Cox Plate in some early Australian betting markets.
