Te Akau stable foreman Tracy Collis started her riding career in 1987 with a win aboard Wake Forest, who went on to win the New Zealand Cup, and she had 85 wins.
She was apprenticed to Gus Glutterbuck, who trained Wake Forest at Awapuni. Clutterbuck became Te Akau stable manager in 2002 at Rangiora, and in January 2011 transferred to Te Akau Singapore where he is assistant trainer to Mark Walker, and Collis went on to train 18 winners with a small team at Awapuni. She also travelled horses on successful missions to Brisbane, and Melbourne.
“I organize the truck list and riders and have the horses saddled and ready to work. Basically, giving the staff instructions to keep the morning going smoothly and then get the horses home and out into the paddocks.
“I enjoy the role and grateful for the opportunity to work with lovely animals, and make progress.”
