Karaka 2020 – Lot 209 Showcasing (GB) – Que Sera, Chestnut Filly

Lot 209 chestnut filly Showcasing – Que Sera (Daggers Drawn) $215,000 (draft: Curraghmore Stud)

She is a quality filly from an impressive winning mare over 1400 metres, by one of the best sires of two-year-olds in New Zealand. Showcasing (Oasis Dream) was leading Two-Year-Old Sire in 2014, set a record for individual two-year-old winners last season and leads the way again this year (wins).

His sire, Oasis Dream, was a terrific sprinter in Europe, winning the stallion making July Cup (Gr. 1, 1200m) at Newmarket.

Gordon Cunningham (Curraghmore Stud) said: “She’s a gorgeous sound filly with great presence and strength. She’s by a great sire of two-year-olds and that’s what she looks like.

“We bred the mare and she’s from a great running family. Her half-sister, Paris Rock (Rock ‘n’ Pop), who was very fast, won her first three starts in Melbourne, and second favourite in the Vanity Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400m) at her fourth start when she got injured. I actually bought her back to be a broodmare, so the mare has already thrown a good horse and we like this filly so much that we’re going to stay in for up to 30 percent.

“That shows what we think of the filly and I’m delighted that David has bought her and to remain involved.”

“We think she’s a classy filly,” said Te Akau principal David Ellis. “Beautifully prepared by a top breeder and she looks a real two-year-old type. Showcasing has a really good record in the Karaka Million.

“She’s got great strength in her hindquarters, a great middle, and closely related to Iflooxcouldkill. And, I remember her winning the Sires’ Produce Stakes (Gr. 1, 1400m) being a chestnut with big white face and I see plenty of resemblance in this filly.”
