Sydney 2020 – Lot 341 Tavistock (NZ)/Bagalollies, Bay Colt

Lot 341 b c Tavistock – Bagalollies (Zabeel) – Highden Stud

A fine specimen, he is a colt by dual Group One winner Tavistock (Montjeu), out of dual New Zealand Broodmare of the Year Bagalollies, and a brother to Hong Kong Horse of the Year Werther and New Zealand Cup winner Gobstopper.

Bagalollies has already left three winners of 23 races.

Tavistock (Montjeu), a noted sire of (four) Derby winners, including Werther, has added terrific quality to the New Zealand stallion ranks, producing robust and hardy horses with tough qualities and the ability to accelerate, or quicken, at the business end, for which he was heralded for.

The same Tavistock/Zabeel cross has also produced VRC Derby (Gr. 1, 2500m) winner, now stallion, Tarzino (ex. Zarzino). Deeper into the pedigree of Tavistock, the cross, which has proved most effective in producing males, includes Group One winners Tavago, Volkstok’n’barrell, and Infantry, along with Group Two winners Hasselhoff and Tavidream.

“He’s an absolutely outstanding colt,” said Te Akau principal David Ellis. “He’s beautifully put together and very athletic. He’s a very good-looking colt with a fantastic proven pedigree.  His full sister has been Group placed at both her last starts.

“Let’s hope he can be champion, like his brother (Werther), and he’s a horse we’ve bought with Derby aspirations.”
