Karaka 2020 – Lot 376 Extreme Choice (AUS) – Unrevealed (USA), Chestnut Colt

Lot 376 chestnut colt Extreme Choice – Unrevealed (Forest Wildcat) $85,000 (draft: Ainsley Downs)

The oldest progeny from a young sire by top-class stallion Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice), out of mare by very fast sire Forest Wildcat (Storm Cat).

Courtney Howells (Ainsley Downs) said: “He’s tailor-made for the Karaka Million, that’s what we bought him for. He’s got a good brain on him and been chilled out the whole time he’s been here and he’ll be an easy horse to train. He’s had an easy preparation and an uncomplicated horse.

“We bought him out of Melbourne, and the first foal of a real two-year-old family. It’s a Japanese family when you go back into it. I was looking for a horse for the Karaka Million and we’ve always tried to target a horse for it.

“We’re very pleased that David (Ellis) bought him and hopefully we can have another runner in the Karaka Million.”

Howells said the colt reminded him immensely of Choice Bro, whom he bought for the Karaka Million. After finishing fourth in the race, he won the Sires’ Produce Stakes (Gr. 1, 1400m) and went on to win the Karaka Million 3YO Classic (Restricted Listed, 1600m).

“He’s a very natural two-year-old type and the first offering by a very fast sire. The dam won two races as a two-year-old and it’s a family full of two-year-old winners,” said Te Akau principal David Ellis.

“He’s got great class and style about him and a very attractive colt. We were thrilled to buy him and even happier to get him for the price.”
