Lot 623 bay colt Burgundy – Glamorous Girl (Thorn Park) $30,000 (draft: Cambridge Stud)
From a mare that impressed winning over 1400 metres before scoring in the Desert Gold Stakes (Gr. 3, 1600m), she also finished second in the Soliloquy Stakes (Listed, 1400m) and Sir Tristram Fillies Classic (Gr. 2, 2000m).
David Ellis bought sire Burgundy (Redoute’s Choice) from the Pencarrow draft at Karaka, trained by Te Akau to win five stakes races and he did a fantastic job as a young stallion. His first three two-year-olds to race all won and he sired the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Dijon Bleu.
Glamorous Girl has already left five individual winners, and the colt has some tremendous sire influences on each side of his pedigree: Sir Tristram, Nureyev, Bletchingly, and immortal sire Northern Dancer.
“He’s a natural running sort of two-year-old and a very athletic horse,” said Te Akau principal David Ellis. “He’s out of a talented race mare and from a good family that can get them up and going.
“The second to the fourth dam all won as two-year-olds and he’s a nice, straightforward sort of horse that certainly looks like he can come early.”
