Lot 646 ch c Capitalist – Hidden Attraction (Hidden Dragon) $165,000 (draft: Hallmark Stud)
Currently being broken in at Te Akau Stud, a strong chestnut colt prepared by the same stud that David Ellis purchased Group One winner Age of Fire (Fastnet Rock).
And similarly, with Fastnet Rock being by the greatest stakes producing sire of all-time, Danehill (Danzig), he carries a Danehill cross on the dam side of Capitalist (Written Tycoon) and the grand-sire of Hidden Attraction.
A spitting image of first season sire Capitalist, the 2015-16 Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) winner and Champion Two-Year-Old in Australia, whose sire Written Tycoon (Iglesia) is the leading sire in Victoria and had progeny sell to $1.5 million.
His dam, Hidden Attraction, by sprint sire Hidden Dragon (Danehill), is a half-sister to dual Group One winning sprinter Atomic Force (Danehill Dancer), who won the Galaxy (1100m) at Randwick, and Railway (1200m) at Ellerslie.
“I love this colt,” said Te Akau principal David Ellis. “He’s a real Australian bred speed horse with plenty of natural strength. He’s athletic, moves well, and looks a Karaka Million type with plenty of get-up-and-go.
“He’s the type that we would love to race in Australia, and that’s what we’d love to do with some of our more precocious colts – take them there to see if they can be competitive racing for big stakes.
“We believe he was way under value and were lucky to be able to buy him after the sale, having kept a very close eye on him.”
