Lot 677 bay filly Iffraaj – Its All Fun (Pins) $15,000 (draft: Fairdale Stud)
By high-quality proven International Group One stallion Iffraaj, the sire of the Te Akau triple Group One winner Gingernuts, dam sire Pins (Snippets) is a well-established broodmare sire and his daughters have left 34 stakes winners.
She is from the family of Champion Three-Year-Old in New Zealand, Madison County (Pins), and a multiple champion sire, O’Reilly (Last Tycoon).
At the 2019 Karaka Book 1 Sale, from the Fairdale Stud draft, Te Akau principal David Ellis bought recent Karaka Million (Restricted Listed, 1200m) winner Cool Aza Beel (Savabeel) for $150,000 and he has now won $573,560.
After winning the Karaka Million, Ellis said: “I’d like to acknowledge that this colt was bred at Fairdale Stud by a truly great New Zealand breeding family (Fell’s). Third generation, Duncan Fell is a young breeder and stud master of immense ability.
“We’ve been very impressed with the stock of Iffraaj and he’s a stallion we like to support given the success we’ve had with him. She’s a neat, tidy, filly and very affordable.”
Duncan Fell (Fairdale Stud) said: “Dave (Ellis) stole it and she was an absolute gift, but obviously I’m pleased to see her go to Te Akau. She was the last lot of the day and it’s bloody hard to sell them. The last lot of the day is a hard spot to be and I’d lowered my price expectations, but she’s well bred and I thought with her pedigree, and being a nice athletic filly, I’d thought she’d sell a lot better than what she did.
“She’s a good-looking filly with a really good walk and a lovely head, in the Iffraaj mould. She’s very athletic, with a really nice over-step, and totally correct.
“I let her meet the market and we didn’t receive a lot for her, but it doesn’t get much better than the family she’s from and she’s really nice filly.
“At every sale there’s a bargain and she might turn out to be the story of the Karaka 2020 Sale.”
