Lot 740 bay or brown filly Iffraaj – Miss Bluebell (Savabeel) $65,000 (draft: Archer Park)
By high-quality proven International Group One stallion Iffraaj, the sire of the Te Akau triple Group One winner Gingernuts, her dam sire is five-time Champion Sire and emerging broodmare sire Savabeel (Zabeel).
Savabeel mares have recently produced Conqueror (Fastnet Rock), who finished second to Te Akau trained Probabeel (Savabeel) in the $1m Karaka Million 3YO Classic (Restricted, Listed 1600m), and Tokorangi (Redwood), a two-year-old winner by six and a half lengths.
“We have had a lot of success with the progeny of both Iffraaj and Savabeel, and she has a lot of Savabeel about her,” said Te Akau principal David Ellis. “She’s got plenty of class and we thought she really stood out in the Book 2 Sale.
“She has a lot of natural strength and plenty of quality, and after racing as a two-year-old she has the scope to train on at three, four, and five.”
Standing out in the pedigree, third dam Vegas Showgirl (Al Akbar) is the dam of out and out champion, and three-time Horse of the Year, Winx (Street Cry). Winx won 37 races (33 in succession), including 25 Group Ones, and the equivalent of NZ$28 million.
“Cherie Archer (Archer Park) said: “I really think she’s an Oaks type filly and has a really sassy attitude to make a good racehorse.
“Her temperament is easy, attitude and appetite both very good. She’s an exceptionally well balanced filly and when you watch her in the paddock she’s a really free mover and powerhouse.”
The filly carries a bloodline cross to Nureyev, credited with adding a class factor to any pedigree, while leading broodmare sire Stravinsky is her grand-dam sire.
