KARAKA – Lot 120 Almanzor (FR) – Silver Blossom (IRE), Bay Filly

Lot 120 bay filly Almanzor – Silver Blossom (Galileo) $300,000 (draft: Cambridge Stud)

By one of the best credentialed stallions to shuttle to New Zealand in the last decade, Almanzor (Wotton Bassett) was European Champion Three-Year-Old and claimed the same titles in Ireland and France.

The dam Silver Blossom is by the best sire in the world, Champion Stallion (12 times) Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) who has sired more stakes winners (728) than any other sire in history.

“She’s a beautiful filly and we thought she was up with there with the best Almanzor’s in the sale,” said Te Akau principal David Ellis CNZM.

“She’s got a lovely international pedigree, being out of a mare by Galileo, one of the greatest stallion influences of all-time.

“She’s a classic filly, a 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) filly that will get up in trip as a three-year-old, and a high-class looking filly.

“She reminded us on type of some of the better fillies we’ve bought from this sale with size, scope, and substance, that develop into a really good three-year-olds.

“Also, we trained the half-sister Silver Lake (Redoute’s Choice) to win at Trentham, before she went to Australia, so we know a bit about the family progeny already.”
