KARAKA – Lot 199 Iffraaj (GB) – Vernal (AUS), Bay Filly

Lot 199 bay filly Iffraaj – Vernal (Bernardini) $125,000 (draft: Koru Thoroughbreds)

Boys Get Paid have syndicated this filly.

By high-quality stallion Iffraaj (Zafonic), with 20 Group 1 winners and 124 stakes winners worldwide, and a sire of sires, including four-time Group One winning miler Ribchester and Wootton Bassett, the sire of sale impacting young sire Almanzor.

Notable Iffraaj influences for Te Akau have been his son Gingernuts, a triple Group One winner, and Melody Belle, 12-time Group One winner and dual Horse of the Year, whose dam Meleka Belle is by Iffrraj.

Although unraced, dam Vernal, from tremendous producer Youth Presence (Dehere), is a half-sister to Group One winners Kidnapped (Viscount) and Hauraki (Reset), and Group One placed Academus (Lonhro).

“The mare has had a couple of performers as two-year-olds, and she looks a real Karaka Million sort of filly,” said Te Akau principal David Ellis CNZM.

“She’s a good type, walked well, and obviously we’ve had a fair bit of success with the progeny of Iffraaj.

“She took our eye with a real presence about her and often that is enough to makes the difference in us trying to secure them at auction. There is a lot of quality and class in this filly and we thought she was good value at the price given the strength of the family she’s from.”
