KARAKA 19 – Lot 34 Iffraaj (GB) – Finkican (AUS), Bay Colt

Lot 34 b c Iffraaj – Finkican (Refuse to Bend) $57,000 (draft: Ainsley Downs Stud)

“We really like proven stallions and of course we know Iffraaj so well through the deeds of Gingernuts, who won three Group Ones for us,” said Te Akau principal David Ellis.

“He’s a good walking colt, strong colour, and the sort of horse that could be racing as an autumn two-year-old and train on at three.”

A half-sister to his dam, Jimando (Commands), won eight races including two stakes’ races in Australia, and he boasts pedigree-cross influences by some of the most famous: Northern Dancer, Mr. Prospector, Special, Nearctic and Natalma.

His dam sire, Refuse to Bend (Sadler’s Wells), was a top-class two-year-old that trained on to win the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) and Eclipse Stakes (Gr. 1, 2000m) in the U.K.
