Lot 159 bay filly I Am Invincible – Choose (Starcraft) $500,000 (draft: Yarraman Park Stud)
Progeny by Leading Australian Sire (wins) I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit), standing for $247,500, have been incredibly well sought after. His yearlings have sold for $2 million, $1.9m, $1.7m, $1.45m, and averaged over $400,000 last year.
Te Akau purchased Imperatriz (I Am Invincible) at the Gold Coast Sale last year, and she made it two from two in the Eclipse Stakes (Gr. 2, 1200m) on 1 January at Ellerslie.
Trainer Jamie Richards trains Festivity (I Am Invincible) is four from five and one second.
There is no doubt that I Am Invincible is a phenomenal sire and that David Ellis CNZM has a very good eye for selecting them. He made history by siring 28 stakes winners in a season, and it was no surprise that I Am Invincible was the first sire chosen to serve Winx (Street Cry), in 2019.
“She’s a beautiful filly with plenty of size, scope, and strength,” Ellis said. “She has lovely big ears and we thought she was a standout filly by the sire.
“She has a deep pedigree, with a lot of two-year-old winners, and after trialling in the spring we expect she is the type to race as a two-year-old and possibly come back to Australia and compete with more time as a three-year-old.
“Good quality fillies by this sire are not easy to come by and this filly is from a well performed race mare.”
On the dam-side, six-time winner (1200 – 1400m) Choose is by New Zealand bred stallion Starcraft (Soviet Star), a world-class galloper and five-time Group 1 winner that claimed titles of Champion 3YO in Australia, Champion Sprinter in New Zealand, and Champion Miler in Europe.
Choose is from a mare by Champion Sire and Broodmare Sire Redoute’s Choice (Danehill), undisputed king of Australian sires.
This filly is part of a three-filly partnership – together with Lots 109 (Fastnet Rock filly) and 159 (I Am Invincible filly) – Note: purchase price is in Australian dollars
