Lot 163 b c Sebring – Campania (Dubai Destinatiion) $90,000 (draft: Ohukia Lodge)
Showing the ability to flatten out when breezing up in good time (10.5), he is by Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) winner Sebring (More Than Ready), from a mare that won six races (1100m – 1900m) in Australia.
The colt also carries a cross through his dam-lines of another Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) winner, Flying Spur (Danehill).
“We really liked this colt and out of a versatile mare that had plenty of speed,” said Te Akau principal David Ellis. “She was a stakes winner and competed to Group 1 level.”
“He was bought for $150,000 as a yearling, so we thought he was very good value being able to buy him for $90,000.
“We really liked the attributes he showed breezing up and think he has makings of a good racehorse.”
Sebring has been a terrific sire, leaving over 1600 winners, nearly 100 stakes winners, including 15 Group 1 winners.
“Not only can he sire Oaks winners, and multiple Group 1 winners Dissident and Criterion, but Sebring has been very competitive in the Australian stallion market and it’s his versatility that we really like,” Ellis said.
