Lot 205 b or br g Flying Artie – First Bloom (Dylan Thomas) $45,000 (draft: Kilgravin Lodge)
His sire, Flying Artie (Artie Schiller), a World Champion Three-Year-Old Sprinter, headed the three-year-old Timeform Ratings (127) and regarded by trainer Mick Price as a “genuinely exceptional colt”.
“With what he showed on the track, he has the potential to make a major impact on the Australasian breeding industry,” Price added.
The first crop yearlings by Flying Artie sold to $200,000 and in the stables of respected trainers, Ciaron Maher, Peter and Paul Snowden, Mick Price, Gerald Ryan, Anthony Freedman, and Lindsay Park.
“We’ve been impressed with the first crop progeny by Flying Artie and he’s got quite a rap on him from some good judges in Australia,” said Te Akau principal David Ellis.
“He’s a tall, athletic horse, that’s probably going to appreciate a bit of time, being a later foal, and we think he’s got the makings of a nice three-year-old miler type before going to get further.
“He’s a straightforward horse that did everything right in his breeze up, paraded well at the sales complex, and one that we feel has plenty of improvement to come.”
His proven dam sire, Dylan Thomas, has left over 1400 winners, 70 stakes winners, including 12 Group 1.
