AZAZEL

A talented son of Shocking, Azazel announced himself early on the Victorian racing scene.

Having won two of his first three trials in Victoria, he debuted with a stylish victory in the hands of former Te Akau apprentice Michael Dee in a Maiden 1600m event at Seymour in September 2025.

Heading to Flemington in early October 2025, his fourth placing in the A$200,000 Listed Super Impose Stakes over 1800m saw him only 1.16m off the winner - again with Dee in the saddle - boding well for the upcoming Group 1 Victoria Derby.

One of the main entrees to that Derby is the A$200,000 Listed Geelong Classic and Azazel impressed commentators with a determined victory over the 2200m feature, when once again ridden by Michael Dee.

The Group 1 Victoria Derby was next on his agenda but sadly for connections he chipped a knee in the running, has since had remedial surgery and is recuperating in fine fashion - we all eagerly await his return.

Purchased by OTI Racing and David Ellis CNZM at the NZB Ready to Run Sale, Azazel has raced four times for two wins and one placing, earning A$151,250 to date for his ownership group - OTI Racing, Te Akau Angelic Racing Partnership, Mr L Freeman, G Force Racing, Sparks Flying, Greighten, Mr P Tasker, Mr C Treherne, Mr L Webb, Ms D McKeown, Mr W Peart & K Peart.
