DREAM OF THE MOON

Dream Of The Moon showed talent from the very beginning - despite her shares being somewhat slower to sell than others, she quickly proved her worth, much to the pride and excitement of her ownership family.

The filly's first win came during NZ Cup Week at Riccarton in November 2023 when she recorded an impressive victory in the hands of the country's leading rider, Michael McNab.  Up until this edition, the race has been a black type one, so she showed quickly she was up to that level of racing.

En route back to Te Akau's Matamata stable on 9 December 2023, Dream Of The Moon contested the $175,000 Group 2 Mode Technology Wellington Wakefield Challenge Stakes for two year olds, a set weights' affair over 1100m.  Again with McNab in the saddle, she was a game third to stablemate, and eventual Group 1 winner Captured By Love.

After a short break, Dream Of The Moon again took on Captured By Love in the $100,000 Group 3 Platinum Homes New Plymouth Taranaki 2YO Classic over 1200m in February 2024.  The Heavy8 track conditions were not to her liking, but nonetheless she ran a bold fourth with McBan again aboard, behind her stablemate.

Fourth she would be again in the $80,000 Listed TAB Star Way Stakes at Ellerslie over 1200m when ridden by Warren Kennedy - before concluding her two year old season.

Returning as a three year old, Dream Of The Moon was immediately sent south and claimed further valuable black type when finishing second in the $80,000 Listed NZB Canterbury Belle Stakes for 3YO fillies over 1200m at Riccarton in September 2024.

The following month, she was runner up again at stakes' level, when very brave at Ashburton in the $100,000 Group 3 Barneswood Farm Stakes over 1400m when ridden by visiting Australian jockey Liam Riordan.

Career win No.2 came next after a short let-up, and was quickly achieved and in dominant fashion at Riccarton in March at Riccarton with Michael McNab reunited with the filly.  She powered home to win a Rating 65 benchmark event over 1200m.

Then came the day Dream Of The Moon so richly deserved - on 12 April 2025, victory was hers in the $80,000 Listed NZB Airfreight Stakes 3YOF 1600m with George Rooke in the saddle - his first New Zealand stakes' victory.  Powerful in build and by performance, she cruised home in dominant fashion, winning by 3.3 lengths.

Dream Of The Moon was purchased by David Ellis CNZM at the Magic Millions' January sale.  Raced by the Te Akau Moon Dreaming Racing Partnership (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM) she has raced 11 times, recoding three wins and six placings, earning $165,175 to date.
