Society Beau's win in the Group 2 Japan/New Zealand International Trophy in April 2002, demonstrated what a high-class galloper he was. He smashed the track record in winning the 1600m feature. The son of Bigstone was astutely purchased by David Ellis for $37,000 as a yearling and trained by Mark Walker. Winner also of the Group 3 QTC Chairman's Handicap in Brisbane, he won 12 races at distances ranging from 1200m to 2000m.
