VIVA VIENNA

This classy daughter of All Too Hard debuted in September 2022 as a two year old - finishing third on that occasion in a race that produced Embellish's first winner.  Embellish of course was a Group 1 winning Savabeel colt selected and purchased by David Ellis CNZM, and trained by Te Akau.

It wouldn't be long until her talent was amply displayed, with her maiden win coming at just her second appearance in November at Te Rapa.  Ridden by Warren Kennedy, despite being awkwardly away, she kicked clear at the 300m mark and easily defeated the field, including runner up Ethereal Star.

Following a gallant second to (later Champion 2YO of the Year) Tokyo Tycoon, she was spelled and emerged in winning style again in April 2023. Again with Kennedy in the saddle, and again at Te Rapa, she again was awkwardly out of the gates but her rider didn't panic, and she showed grit and determination to secure the victory.

Viva Vienna was spelled after not handling the heavy track conditions in the Listed Waikato Equine 2YO Stakes.

Sent south in preparation for NZ Cup Week, Viva Vienna made immediate impact winning a 3YO 1000m event in early September 2023 at Riccarton with Sam Weatherley aboard.  Having led for most of the race, she was challenged hard by Illicit Dreams, but dug deep to fend off Illicit Dreams and stable mate Rhetorical.

Her second southern start was two weeks later September 2023 in the $80,000 Listed Canterbury Belle Stakes SW 1200m for 3YO fillies. Again her fighting spirit needed to be called upon, and she responded in superb fashion for Weatherley, claiming victory over Illicit Dreams by half a neck - bringing up Te Akau's sixth win in this race.

In October 2023, Viva Vienna rallied bravely for second to stablemate Star of Justice in the $100,000 Group 3 Barneswood farm Stakes 3YO SW 1400m.  Ridden by Warren Kennedy, she was awkwardly away, however she recovered to lead and was only headed and overhauled by her stablemate Star of Justice at the 150m.

Viva Vienna is raced by the Te Akau Empress of Australia Racing Partnership (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM) and was purchased by David Ellis CNZM for $100,000 from the Karaka Yearling Sale Book 1.  She has raced eight times, recording four wins and three placings, earning $137,275.
