What You Wish overcame a run of bad luck to claim his thoroughly deserved stakes' success in February 2025 - winning the $100,000 Listed Matamata Veterinary Services Kaimai Stakes over 2000m.

He began his career as a two year old, posting a win and runner up placing, and has been a son of Embellish who has kept improving with age.  

He raced competitively in his age group races including fourth in the $150,000 Group 2 James and Annie Sarten Memorial 3YO SW 1400m in October 2023. He was also third in the $160,000 Group 2 Legacy Lodge Waikato Guineas 3YO SW 2000m in January 2024, while fighting hard for sixth in the $1 million Group 1 NZ Derby 2400m in March 2024.

As a 4YO What You Wish for overcame a run of bad luck, and difficult draws to deliver a staunch win in the $100,000 Listed Matamata Veterinary Kaimai Stakes Open Hcp 2000m when ridden by Craig Grylls.

Purchased by David Ellis CNZM for $60,000 at the Karaka Yearling sale Book 1, he is raced by the Te Akau Wish and Win Racing Partnership (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM).  He was raced 17 times (eight at stakes' level) for four wins and eight placings, earning $207,890 to date for his owners.
