MAGIC MILLIONS GOLD COAST YEARLING SALES
Lot 1303 bay/brown colt Cool Aza Beel – Mountford (I Am Invincible) - draft: Newhaven Park Stud
TO RACE IN NEW ZEALAND - great buying from a lovely family - this colt is from the second crop of Champion Two-Year-Old, Karaka Million 2YO (Restricted Listed, 1200m), Group 1 Sistema Stakes' (1200m) winner and Champion 2YO of the Year Cool Aza Beel (Savabeel), whom Te Akau principal David Ellis CNZM purchased as yearling at Karaka, and who now stands at Newhaven Park Stud (NSW).
From his first crop, Ellis purchased Cool Aza Rene (2 f Cool Aza Beel – Irene, by Xtravagant) from Newhaven Park at the corresponding sale last year and she impressively won her first two starts this season as a two year old.
The Kelly family at Newhaven Park has reported the progeny of Cool Aza Beel are the best line of yearlings by any stallion it's stood, which is very similar to the comments made by Waikato Stud when the first Savabeel (Zabeel) foals were born.
The colt is the second foal from Mountford, by Australian Champion Sire for the past three years I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit), currently second in the General Sires’ List, the leading Australian stallion in the TRC Global Sire Rankings - he stands for a service fee of A$275,000 at Yarraman Park Stud.
I Am Invincible is also the sire of Imperatriz, whom Ellis purchased in 2020 at the Gold Coast. The winner of 10 Group 1 races, the most for her sire, Imperatriz is the current New Zealand Horse of the Year and Champion Sprinter in Australia. Retired and sold in June last year for A$6.6 million, she became the highest priced filly or mare ever sold in the Southern Hemisphere.
This colt's third dam, Beauty Belle (Ideal Planet), is the dam of Group 3 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) winner Genius And Evil (Marauding), defeating Fastnet Rock (Danehill). He was renamed Absolute Champion he became a Group 1 winner and Champion Sprinter in Hong Kong.
Beauty Belle, who left 10 to race for nine winners, also produced dual Group 1 winner Wylie Hall (Redoute’s Choice), who included the Group 1 South African Derby (2400m) in his victories.
It is the family of Te Akau dual Horse of the Year Melody Belle (Commands). Purchased as a yearling for $57,500 by Ellis, the Champion Two-Year-Old went on to win 14 Group 1 races, a national record – one more than Sunline (Desert Sun) who won 13.
“He is very much in the mould of his sire, Cool Aza Beel, and rich in colour like his sire Savabeel,” Ellis said.
“We know plenty about the outstanding Belle family, especially through the deeds of Melody Belle, and it’s such a great pedigree.
“He’s a really good bodied colt, by a sire we’ve already had success with, and great value at the price.”
The colt carries bloodline crosses to Danzig, through the sire line of I Am Invincible and dam line of Cool Aza Beel, along with great sire Bletchingly.
