Description

Lot 232 chestnut filly Ole Kirk – Quintuple Twins (Sebring) - draft: Landsdowne Park

The filly is from the second crop of Australian Champion 3YO Colt Ole Kirk, by Champion Sire and proven sire of sires Written Tycoon (Iglesia).

Winner of the Golden Rose (Gr. 1, 1400m) and stallion making Caulfield Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m), Ole Kirk has already left debut stakes winning two-year-old King Kirk in the Arrowfield Breeders’ Plate (Gr. 3, 1000m).

Ole Kirk is out of a mare by Bel Esprit, the sire of Black Caviar who was unbeaten in 25 starts including 15 Group One. Dam Quintuple Twins, a five-time winner from 1200m – 1600m, is by Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) winning stallion Sebring (More Than Ready), a very versatile sire of two-year-olds and Oaks’ winners, alike, while developing into a continually improving broodmare sire.

The filly is from the family of gifted galloper Chambord (Zabeel), purchased by David Ellis as a yearling at Karaka. He won four races over 1200 metres, including the Levin Stakes (Listed, 1200m) and finished runner-up in the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m).

“Ole Kirk is one of the most promising young first season sires we’ve seen in many years and he’s made a fantastic start to his stallion career,” said David Ellis.

“There are plenty of two-year-old winners in the family. It’s a two-year-old producing pedigree and she, too, looks a real two-year-old type.

“We know the extended family through the deeds of Chambord. We had a soft spot for Chambord, because he continued to overcome adversity and return to racing as a winner. He was special sort of horse and very courageous.”

Ole Kirk has a cross to champion speed sire Vain (Wilkes) and Quintuple Twins has a cross to breed shaping Champion Sire Danehill (Danzig).
