Lot 4 bay filly Satono Aladdin – If Perhaps (Not A Single Doubt) - draft: Curraghmore

Te Akau principal David Ellis CNZM set things alight for stallion Satono Aladdin (Deep Impact) when buying Tokyo Tycoon as a yearling at Karaka, and he became the seventh of eight Karaka Million 2YO (Restricted Listed, 1200m) winners for the stable and Champion Two-Year-Old.

Son of sire sensation Deep Impact, Satono Aladdin won the highest rated mile in Japan: Tokyo Yasuda Kinen (Gr. 1, 1600m), running an incredible 1:31.5. Dam If Perhaps is by outstanding Australian sire Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice), a sire with which Te Akau has had plenty of success.

Ellis purchased stakes winner and multiple Group Two and Group Three placed Sans Doute (Not A Single Doubt), who won four in succession at Flemington, culminating in the Hoysted Stakes (Listed, 1000m), from the Te Akau stable at Cranbourne.

The dam side of the pedigree is full to Group One winners and Award-winning racehorses.

Third dam Joie Denise (Danehill) won the Queensland Oaks (Gr. 1, 2400m) and left four-time Group One winner Tuesday Joy (Carnegie), as well as Sunday Joy.

Sunday Joy (Sunday Silence) won the Australian Oaks (Gr. 1, 2400m), and left eight-time Group One winner and Champion Middle Distance Horse in Australia More Joyous (More Than Ready).

“We considered her one of the standout fillies in the sale and being able to buy her early in the sale probably meant we got her at pretty good value,” Ellis said.

“Curraghmore Stud is one of the best preparers of horses we have in New Zealand, and Greg Tomlinson (Nearco Stud) is certainly one of the best breeders in the country.

“Satono Aladdin has become a great asset to our stallion ranks in New Zealand. His sire Deep Impact has proved to be one of the best stallions in the world, and the best racing progeny of Satono Aladdin, including Tokyo Tycoon, have been really high-quality individuals.

“We were immediately struck by the quality of the filly, and the way she moves. She has a massive walk which is really eye-catching.

“The Joy family has been incredibly well bred over the years, to the best stallions in Australia, and the evidence of that is recognisable in this filly.”

Dam If Perhaps has a beautifully balanced cross of breed shaping sire Danehill (Danzig), and the filly carries a cross of internationally acclaimed sire Mr. Prospector.
