Lot 514 bay filly Acrobat – Caveat (Elusive Quality) - draft: HGT Bloodstock
The filly is by a son of Champion Sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill) Acrobat, a debut stakes winner over 1000 metres at Randwick, stopping the clock at 56.0, the fastest time for the distance by a two-year-old on the course. Acrobat has a terrific NZ-bred dam line.
His dam, Hips Don’t Lie, won five times from 1000m – 1200m, including the Vision Stakes (Gr. 2, 1200m) as a two-year-old. Hips Don’t Lie is by high quality broodmare sire Stravinsky (Nureyev), in turn out of a mare by Champion Sire Centaine, Procure.
Owned by Sheikh Mohammed, a name which is synonymous with high quality dam lines, Caveat was a debut winning two-year-old that has done a terrific job at stud with four individual winners of 21 races.
Grand-dam Camarena (Danehill) was a top-line filly, winning nine times from 1000m – 2400m including the Queensland Derby (Gr. 1, 2400m), Queensland Guineas (Gr. 2, 1600m), and Reginald Allen Stakes (Listed, 1400m).
She in turn produced eight winners of 19 races, including the Sires’ Produce Stakes (Gr. 1, 1400m) winner Camarilla, a sister to Caveat.
Camarilla continued the trend of top producing mares from the family, leaving four winners of 11 races including quadruple Group One winner Guelph (Exceed And Excel), Champion Three-Year-Old Filly in Australia, after winning the Sires’ Produce Stakes (Gr. 1, 1400m), Champagne Stakes (Gr. 1, 1600m), Flight Stakes (Gr. 1, 1600m), and Thousand Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m).
“She’s a lovely strong filly, a sharp two-year-old type, from an exceptional line of top fillies and broodmares,” said David Ellis.
“There is plenty of speed through the distaff line, going back to stallions Marscay and Lunctime. “She has an enormous amount of quality in her physique, by a beautifully bred young sire and we’ve been impressed by progeny we’ve seen by him.
“Acrobat has added real precocity to this filly.
She has plenty of muscle, great bodied, and a deep girth.” The filly has a Danehill cross on the sire line of Acrobat and dam line of Caveat.
