MAGIC MILLIONS GOLD COAST YEARLING SALES
Lot 74 bay filly I Am Invincible – Villa Carlotta (Street Cry) - draft: Segenhoe Stud
NOTE: this filly is one of two fillies comprising our Te Akau 2025 Magic Filly Partnership - a share must also be purchased in Lot 579, not in the fillies individually.
The filly is by Australian Champion Sire for the past three years I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit), who currently sits second in the General Sires’ List, is the leading Australian stallion in the TRC Global Sire Rankings, and stands for a service fee of $275,000 at Yarraman Park Stud.
I Am Invincible is also the sire of Imperatriz, whom Te Akau principal David Ellis purchased in 2020 at the Gold Coast. The winner of 10 Group One races, the most for her sire, Imperatriz is the current New Zealand Horse of the Year and Champion Sprinter in Australia. Retired and sold in June last year for $6.6 million, she became the highest priced filly or mare ever sold in the Southern Hemisphere.
I Am Invincible yearlings have sold for $2.7 million, $2m, $1.9m, $1.7m, $1.45m, and averaged nearly $400,000 last year.
Dam Villa Carlotta, who won as a two-year-old over 1000 metres at Randwick, has had two foals to race, both winners.
Villa Carlotta is by high-class international stallion Street Cry (Machiavellian), a Dubai World Cup winner, who famously sired the greatest of all time, Winx (37 wins, 25 Group One, and NZ$28.1 million).
Street Cry (Machiavellian) is also the sire of Champion US mare Zenyatta, Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense, and Melbourne Cup winner Shocking, who stands at stud in New Zealand.
The grand-dam of the filly is beautifully bred Florentina, by breed shaping stallion and Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice (Danehill).
Florentina won the Gold Coast Guineas (Gr. 3, 1200m) and in turn produced four-time Group One winner In Italian (Dubawi), while third dam Celebria, by international stallion Peintre Celebre (Nureyev), left Group One winner Gathering (Tale Of The Cat).
"She is an outstanding filly with an exceptionally good Group One producing pedigree," Ellis said.
"Having both Street Cry and Redoute’s Choice are high quality influences and the family is proven to leave quality horses.
"Peintre Celebre, who won both the French Derby and Arc de Triomphe, and his sire, the Champion Nureyev, I love to see his influence in any pedigree.
"She’s a beautiful moving filly and has a lot of class and quality in her physique."
The filly carries in her pedigree the speed influence of Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) winner Canny Lad, by speed sire Bletchingly. I Am Invincible is out of mare by Canny Lad, and he also appears in the dam line of Villa Carlotta.
