Are You Serious?
7 April, 2025
Oh yes we are! We could not be more serious in fact!!
Did you know sire Home Affairs is running red hot!! He has been named the first season sire 'King of the Australasian Ring' at this year's yearling sales ....
This first season sire has the impressive achievement of having had the sale topper at BOTH the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale this week and the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2025. His Easter colt sold yesterday for A$3 million - with his filly at Magic Millions' selling for A$3.2 million ...
We just love this young stallion (obviously a lot of great judges do) and cannot believe we have shares still available in our stunning Home Affairs filly out of King Iris - we have called her 'Flora'!
She has a mouth watering pedigree - that includes Group 1 winning, NZB Filly of the Year King's Rose who won a whopping seven stakes races on BOTH sides of the Tasman, with a further seven Group placings - including runner up in the Group 1 Toorak Hcp and Group 1 Emirates Stakes in Melbourne, and third in the Group 1 Coolmore and Group 1 Queen of the Turf in Sydney!
Did we mention Champion NZ 2YO Anabandana is also part of her family?!
We snapped this filly up early in the Magic Millions' sale, she has broken in superbly and what incredible value she has proved to be - she cost A$170,000 - to put that into perspective, Home Affairs leads the first season sires after the first day at the Easter Sale with nine lots sold for A$4.7 million, averaging A$528,000!
Here she is - don't miss her - she's just like Imperatriz, she looks like she could well be last to sell, just like her ....

Home Affairs is a first-season stallion by Champion Sire I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit), standing at Coolmore Stud.
Incredibly, not only was Home Affairs the Leading First Season Sire at the Gold Coast Yearling Sale, where David Ellis bought the filly in January, but he also topped the sale when one of his progenies that sold for $3.2 million.
At that sale, Home Affairs sold 47 yearlings for an average of A$383,000, and he franked the performance later in January at Karaka, when nine sold, and a $340,000 top price.
These are incredible statistics, especially for a first season sire, and suggests that experienced bloodstock agents and buyers, alike, are bullish on the quality of the yearlings he has produced.
Home Affairs won the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes as a two-year-old at Rosehill, and became Champion 3YO Colt in Australia, after winning the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes and Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning (like Imperatriz), both at Flemington.
Adding to his stallion credentials, the dam of Home Affairs, Miss Interiors (Flying Spur), is a half-sister to Group 1 winner and the Leading First Crop Sire for 2021/22 in Australia, Russian Revolution (Snitzel), as well as Group 3 winner Turbo Miss (Sebring).
Her dam King's Iris, by Champion Sire Exceed and Excel (Danehill), is a half-sister to King’s Rose.
David Ellis was drawn to the filly because she is from the family of Te Akau trained New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year King’s Rose (Redoute’s Choice), who was incredibly dominant in her three-year-old year, winning the Listed Ray Coupland Stakes (1400m), Group 1 NZ 1000 Guineas (1600m), Group 3 Eulogy Stakes (1600m), Group 2 Royal Stakes (2000m), and Group 2 Sir Tristram Fillies Classic (2000m).
At the time of purchase, Ellis said: “She’s a filly we were obviously very interested in, being from the family of King’s Rose, and she actually has a similar blaze on her forehead.
“We think Home Affairs has all the makings of a top sire, and there is plenty of quality among the performances and the depth of pedigree on the dam side.”
Reports from the breakers are that she “broke-in like a star”, and now undergoing early education in the Main Stable at Matamata.
Home Affairs was bred by Torryburn Stud, whose Stud Manager Melissa Copelin said: “I was there when he (Home Affairs) was foaled, and he was such an impressive colt from day one. He was probably the best foal I’ve ever seen. So, we always knew he was something quite special, and he’s just gone on from there.”
