Get Ready to Run with Te Akau!

Can you believe we're at this time of the year again?! Tomorrow is the first day of the NZB Ready To Run Sale of 2YOs - Te Akau has been full noise behind the scenes doing all our prep and we are absolutely primed to bid on high class bloodstock as well look to secure our next champion!

Things are a little bit different this year due to Covid restrictions in the Waikato so the sale is being held virtually from the Te Rapa racecourse.  While there will be no horses present, the team has been busy over the past few weeks reviewing the breeze ups and completing physical inspections.  Our short list has been refined and decided and we are ready to go!

David, Karyn and Jamie will be on site at Te Rapa, while Mark Walker is based in Singapore, he too has provided his virtual assessment.

One thing the team loves about this sale is the beauty that the horses we select can be up and running and at the races as early as March / April next year.  They are all broken in, and our next steps are to assess them in the stable, learn about each one individually and then their journey begins!

Five years ago, David purchased only two horses - Hall of Fame and Gingernuts who between them won four Group 1 races. Three years ago it was Te Akau Shark who has enjoyed Australian success and trans-Tasman Group 1 wins. David will certainly be hunting down the next Gingernuts, Hall of Fame or Te Akau Shark at this year's edition.  Our 2020 class has already delivered with classy Savabeel colt Zeitaku and also Pure Imagination already winners!
