Matamata Tuesday Trackwork

Underthemoonlight shaped as a likely threat to her higher profile Foxbridge Plate rivals when she galloped stylishly at Matamata this morning.  Galloping on the sand with raceday rider Cameron Lammas in the saddle, Underthemoonlight was paired with Our Rose Royale (A Jones) over 1000m, running the distance in 1:05.5 and quickening strongly for a final 600m in 36.8.

Underthemoonlight was eased following her Tauranga Classic win in late June, but she has come to hand readily for trainer Karyn McQuade, who isn't complaining at this week's disturbed weather pattern. The Karyn Fursdon-trained Our Rose Royale is a first starter that may be worth watching at Taupo on Friday.

Leading Foxbridge Plate entry Perfect Fit (Coleman) worked right-handed on the course proper, which was very heavy wide out. After cantering away from the winning post, she built momentum along the back straight for a final 600m in 42.1. She looks very bright and improved for her recent bold Te Teko trial.

Gingernuts (Bosson), who will trial at Taupo on Friday ahead of the Tarzino Trophy at Hastings, went with Imperium (Pinn) over a steady 1000m, quickening well over the last 600m in 40.2.

Wildflower (Gorham) and Mistrahma (Coleman) worked soundly ahead of their respective Te Rapa and Taupo engagements, clocking 1:26 for 1200m and 41.6 for the final section.

A trio of Jim Collett-trained Taupo entries were well contained in their work, with Wimbledon (J Collett) recording 44.6 for his final 600m and New Crown (P Turner) and The Matrix (Fawcett) taking 45.5 for their last 600m. Over the same ground Tavis Star (Lammas) prepared for Te Rapa over the same ground in 1:31.6 and 42.2.

Te Rapa entry Dubai Shuffle (Gorham) was again in form galloping on the sand, with his 1200m taking 1:121.8, 1:07 for 1000m and 38.2 for the final 600m.

Summer Passage (Rastrick), who will trial at Taupo on Friday pending his trip to Melbourne, was sent over 1000m with One Madison (Ravi) in 1:09.3 and 40.8. Summer Monsoon (McNab) and Wide Awake (Pinn) had pace on over the same distance in 1:04.8, but fog prevented any sectional split, while Vanilla Koon (Lune) and Piazza (S Weatherley) did well to record 1:03.5 and 37.1.

Hello M'Lady (K McQuade), who is scheduled to run next at New Plymouth on Saturday week, cut out 1000m in 1:06.4 and 37.2. Aotearower (Wratten) strode over 1200m in 1:24.9, 1:10.3 and 41.

Over 1000m Taupo entry Dragon Rio (Dowling) took 1:09.5, Fontelina (Lammas) 1:08.2 and 39.2, and Princess Kereru (Coleman) 1:11.8 and 40.2.

Those to breeze their last 800m included Chance To Dance (Bosson) and Hushed (Nik) in 52.2, and Chambord (McNab) in 57.9 and 42, and Grazia (Lammas) in 58.3 and 38.5.

On the all-weather track Taazman (R Jones) was timed over 1000m in 1:08.2 and 39.
