Singapore Double

Singapore Double

It didn't take long for Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker to move past his 1000th training success that he had recorded on Sunday at Kranji when My Tricia romped home for stable apprentice Shafiq Rusof.

Just a few races later, Mark made it a winning double for the night when Zac Command saluted the judge by a narrow margin with Manny Nunes in the saddle.  Nunes has made a huge impression in a short time on the Singapore riding ranks and himself recorded a winning double on Sunday.  He currently lies second on the Jockeys' Premiership table with 64 wins after today's racing - albeit well behind star rider Joao Moreira who has won 112 races so far this season.  In fact Moreira's 100th came up on a Te Akau trained runner.

Zac Command is a New Zealand bred gelding by Ishiguru and is raced by the Zac Stable - today was his third win at start 30 and he has now earned just on $100,000 in stakes.

Today's double header sees Mark continue to dominate the Trainers' Premiership - a stellar effort with almost seven months of the 2013 season complete.  You cannot underestimate what a remarkable achievement this is.

Mark has notched up 44 wins and leads the table ahead of Michael Freedman (39) and Laurie Laxon (38).  We expect the intensity of this race to continue to build in the remaining five months of the season.

Well done Mark - this morning 999 wins - tonight 1001!
