Te Akau NZ Avondale Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the five-race programme on Monday July 22 at Avondale.

As at 7:08am on Thursday July 18 the conditions were: overcast and Heavy10, rail out 9 metres.

1:41pm R1 8 My Fiancée (3 f Snitzel - Meet My Sis) - Matt Cameron; has done well since producing a solid effort for fourth on July 4 in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres on Heavy10 footing at Waverley. Drawn barrier five in the corresponding event, she should appreciate the likelihood of improving track conditions and look for her to take up a prominent position.

2:16pm R2 4 Pride and Passion (4 m Encosta De Lago - Calaway Gal) - Matt Cameron; sustained a big run for second on July 3 in the Maiden Fillies and Mares 1200 metres on Slow7 at Te Rapa. Sticking to a race for fillies and mares, stepping to 1400 metres should prove an assist and she will look for a timely moment to make her run out of midfield. Having her third start following a long layoff, trainer Jason Bridgman has been happy with both her progress and condition.

2:51pm R3 7 Polarity (5 g No Excuse Needed - Affirmed Lane) - Matt Cameron; was unable to come on in the run after overnight rain provided footing heavier than he prefers on July 4 in the Benchmark 65 2200 metres at Waverley. A better guide to his prospects lies in his sweeping run for second on June 8 in the Benchmark 65 2100 metres on Slow8 at Te Rapa. Footing in the slow range should see him competitive in the field of eight.
