Some highlights from Friday trackwork at Matamata -
Te Akau track work Friday July 12
Course proper (heavy):
Last start winners Prospero (Richards) and Sneaky Feelings (Walters) worked from the 1400 metres in testing conditions, running their last 1200 metres in 1:26.3, final 600m in 42.1. It was good work from the pair. Having both won on July 1 at Matamata, they are being readied for the next local meeting on Friday July 19.
Three-quarter pace on the sand track:
Rapid Gain (Stack) followed Kayleen (Walters) at an interval over 800 metres. Aspen (2 c Alamosa - Kirin Belle) (Walters) and Longbeach (2 c Fastnet Rock - Betwixt) (Stack) went over 800 metres, as did Wolfwhistle (2 c O'Reilly - Legs) (Walters).
Working a couple of times over 400 metres at half pace, on the all-weather track; Realize (1 c Redoute's Choice - Rationalize) (Richards) and 1 c Tale of the Cat - Quatro (Walters).
