Te Akau NZ Saturday Trackwork

Te Akau track work Saturday June 1

Course proper (Slow):

Being readied for the local meeting on Wednesday June 5 at Matamata, last start fresh-up winner Prospero (Miller) worked in from the 1600-metre mark. He picked up the tempo to run the last 1000m in 1:11.5, final 600m in 40.6. It was nice solo work and he strips fit and ready for the Benchmark 65 High-weight and again combines with talented jockey Aaron Kuru.

Secret Whisper (Miller) and the debutante Sneaky Feelings (Stack) worked over 1600 metres, running 1200m in 1:22.5 and final 600m in 41. It was very good work considering they galloped late in the session. Racing in terrific form, especially at home, Secret Whisper contests the Benchmark 75 1600 metres, and Sneaky Feelings kicks off in the Maiden 1600 metres for fillies and mares.

Kayleen (Stack), Milan Miss (McKay), and My Fiancée (Dye) covered 1200 metres in 1:22.6, final 600m in 41.3. It was good even work by all three in testing ground. Already a winner, Milan Miss races in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres, while the Maiden 1200 metres will see Kayleen and My Fiancée bolstering a possible team of eight at the local meeting for trainer Jason Bridgman.

Goyescas (Dye) and Urban Angel (Stack) worked over 1400 metres to cover the 1200m in 1:22.7, final 600m in 40.4. It was good work by the pair on holding, slow ground. Having resumed with telling late strides at Te Rapa, Goyescas returns to the same venue on Saturday June 8 for the benchmark 75 1600 metres, and looking for better footing than she struck at Tauranga, Urban Angel will tackle the Benchmark 65 1600 metres at the same meeting.

The jumper Goosebumps (Miller) worked over a mile and a half to clock his last 1200 metres in even time and quickened up nicely over the final 600m in 42. It was good work as he prepares for the Awapuni Hurdles (2900m) on Saturday June 15 in Palmerston North.
