Te Akau Saturday Trackwork

Te Akau track work Saturday July 6

Course proper (slow):

Fog prevented timing.

Preparing for the premier meeting next Saturday at Trentham, Thrive and Fast Fiction worked well in separate gallops.

Working solo, Thrive (Miller) came from the 1600 metres at three-quarter pace and quickened inside the 600m. She put in with a strong piece of work and pleased rider Daniel Miller by relaxing nicely. She contests the Whyte Handicap (1600m) at Trentham.

Nominating for the Special Conditions Maiden over 1200 metres, five-length debut winner Fast Fiction (Stack) and All Decked Out (Miller) pleased trainer Jason Bridgman with their gallop over 1200 metres and both were strong through the line. Stack suggested Fast Fiction should have no trouble with the expectancy of heavy footing at Trentham, while Miller said All Decked Out (2 c Darci Brahma - Diamond Deck) travelled in a relaxed manner ahead of his debut in the 2YO 1200 metres next Saturday, July 13, at Ruakaka.

Three-quarter pace on the sand track:

Jamie Richards, son of ex jockey now trainer Paul Richards, atop Better than Ever went solo over 800 metres. Gunsmoke (Richards) 600m solo, Urban Angel (Walters) 1200m solo, Alert (Walters) and Peerage (Miller) went 600m, Milan Miss (Miller) 800m solo, Sing Like Ella (Richards) 600m solo.

Three-quarter pace on the all-weather track:

Working half pace a couple of times over 400 metres: 1 c Flying Spur - Madeleine Noblet (Richards), Realize (1 c Redoute's Choice - Rationalize) (Miller) and 1 c Tale of the Cat - Quatro (Hazlett).

Over 600 metres: Flirty Gertey (2 f Thorn Park - Granma Gertey) (Miller) and 2 f More than Ready - Insouciant (Rizmaan), Costa Viva (2 f Encosta De Lago - Vivacious Spirit) (Walters) and Rise ‘N' Shine (2 g Zabeel - Kay's Awake) (Stack), Chambord (2 g Zabeel - Miss Montjeu) (Demir), and Wolfwhistle (2 c O'Reilly - Legs) (Richards).
