Te Akau Taranaki Thursday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has six horses racing on Thursday 5 December at New Plymouth.

Weather: cloudy, track: Dead6, rail: out 9 metres. 6mls rain forecast Wednesday 10mls Thursday.

1.07 p.m. R1 6 Zareeba (4 m Rip Van Winkle - Surooh) -
Craig Grylls; appreciated the trip with a close third in the Maiden 1800 metres
on 9 October at Taupo, and given time (34 days) since finishing third here in
the $10,000 Maiden 2000 metres. Drawn barrier six in the corresponding event,
she rates a top three chance again.

1.42 p.m. R2 3 Boutonniere (3 g Burgundy - Bouquet) -
Johnathan Parkes; recorded two notable efforts for third as a two-year-old and resumes
in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1100 metres. He trialled well for second on 13
November at Avondale, and brings the right all-round form to prove competitive
fresh-up.

1.42 p.m. R2 8 Meritorious (3 f Burgundy - Iconic) -
Craig Grylls; freshened following a notable resuming third over 1100 metres on
29 August at Waverley, and won stylishly when trialling on 13 November at
Avondale. From a good family, she rates a top three chance from barrier two in
the $10,000 Maiden 3YO
1100 metres.

2.17 p.m. R3 1 Oceana Lad (3 g Ocean Park - Excuse O') - Craig Grylls; was never
off the bridle when closing the margin to finish fourth at the trials on 13
November at Avondale. Looked good winning a trial in April at Waipa, and
although the pedigree to go further he has each way claims from barrier four in the $10,000
Maiden 1100 metres.

2.52 p.m. R4 11 Crimson Star (3 f Burgundy - Red Tulip) - Craig Grylls; debuts in
the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres following three preparatory trials this season.
Her dam, Red Tulip (Red Ransom), won twice to 1300 metres in Australia, leaving
two individual winners of nine races, and appears an ideal starting point.

4.07 p.m. R6 7 Dundeel's Girl (4 m Dundeel - Mirovaya)
- Craig Grylls; remained back in the field when resuming over 1200 metres on 17
November at Waverley, and should appreciate stepping up in the $10,000 Maiden
1400 metres. She finished second on debut in April and receives a good
opportunity to show improvement.
