Te Akau Trentham Sunday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses racing on Sunday 5 May at Trentham.

As on race morning the conditions were: overcast and Heavy11, rail out 10 metres. 5mls rain forecast today.

12.20 p.m. R1 4 Burgundy
Belle
(3 f Burgundy - Spin ‘N Grin) - Johnathan Parkes; impressed
winning on debut and again in the next grade at her following start, in
December, before spelling after a notable fifth in the Mongolian Khan Trophy
(Gr. 3, 1200m) on Karaka Million Night (26 Jan.) at Ellerslie. She resumed with
a very good third in the 3YO 1200 metres on 14 April at Te Rapa, and contests
the $25,000 3YO 1400 metres. Handling conditions is paramount and her debut win
by 5.5 lengths on Slow9 is fair indicator.

3.14 p.m. R6 15 Qian Gua (4 g Cape Blanco - Cool
Diamonds) - Dylan
Turner; won two of his four starts when campaigned last autumn and
resumed with strong finishing second in the Rating 72 1400 metres on 17 April
at Matamata. He won his Maiden on Heavy10, over 1600 metres, and should go well
in the $25,000 Rating 72 1400 metres if appreciative of the course at his first
attempt.
