Description

Lot 367 bay colt Cool Aza Beel – Love (Snitzel) - draft: Newhaven Park

GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS ~ LOVE LOVE LOVE

This exciting young colt will have 75% reserved for lady owners as he will be set for the lucrative Pink Bonuses available through the Inglis Series.

The colt is from a family that Te Akau knows well and has already experienced success. We've got the half sister of his dam in the stable, and she's a very capable racehorse indeed!

He is from the first crop of Champion Two-Year-Old, Karaka Million 2YO and Group 1 Sistema Stakes' winner Cool Aza Beel (Savabeel), whom Te Akau principal David Ellis CNZM purchased as yearling at Karaka, and now stands at Newhaven Park (NSW).

He is the first foal of Snitzel mare Love, by Snitzel – the third in the trilogy of Australian Champion Sires: Danehill – Redoute’s Choice – Snitzel.

And he looks like he will get up and run - he's a beauty!!  We will get him educated in Australia and he will head straight to our Cranbourne stable - on early inspections, he looks a precocious type, one who will race as a two year old, and we intend to aim him at the brilliant Pink bonuses on offer - so let's go girls!!

Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice), a two-time Champion Sire of Two-Year-Olds in Australia, equalled then surpassed Danehill with a record number of individual two-year-old winners in a season – a mark that now stands at 35. He has also headed the General Sires’ List twice and Australian Champion Sire in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.

As a broodmare sire, Snitzel, a son of Champion Broodmare Sire Redoute’s Choice (Danehill), is increasingly making his presence felt and last season his daughters left 10 stakes winners.

Snitzel is also the dam-sire of very exciting Te Akau two-year-old Captured By Love (Written Tycoon), bought by Ellis as a yearling on the Gold Coast, and unbeaten in four starts, including the Wakefield Challenge Stakes (Gr. 2, 1100m), Taranaki 2YO Classic (Gr. 3, 1200m), and Matamata Breeders’ Stakes (Gr. 2, 1200m).

The strong Te Akau connection in the colt also comes in the shape of Superbly Written (Written Tycoon) – purchased as a yearling by Ellis on the Gold Coast – a half-sister to Love, each out of Supara (Domesday), who impressively recorded her second victory on 10 February at Riccarton.

From the family of Redoute’s Choice (Danehill), grand-dam sire Domesday (Red Ransom) was a smart Group Two winning sprinter, sire of Group One winning stallion Pressday, while also making his mark as a broodmare sire, given excellent line-breeding, and registering particular success with Northern Dancer line mares, evident in the pedigree of Supara.

Interestingly, the colt carries a bloodline cross of internationally-acclaimed stallion Red Ransom (Roberto) on the dam lines of both Cool Aza Beel and Love.  A heralded broodmare sire, Red Ransom is by English Derby winner Roberto (Hail To Reason).

“He’s an absolutely beautiful colt and we were amazed to buy him at such a good price,” Ellis said.

“Cool Aza Beel was a ready made two-year-old that became Champion Two-Year-Old and it’s very exciting to purchase another one of his first progeny for sale, after first getting one at the Magic Millions Sale in January at Gold Coast.

“The Kelly family at Newhaven Park is doing a great job and they’ve been very impressed with the first progeny of Cool Aza Beel, saying, “His progeny are the best line of yearlings by any stallion they’ve stood at Newhaven Park”.

“He’s a colt with a lot of upside in his physical makeup and being out of Snitzel mare, we think is the perfect pedigree match.

“We were impressed enough with Superbly Written, the half-sister to the dam of this colt (Love), to put her in the Fillies Syndicate last year, and she has already impressed in winning which adds value to the great pedigree, and, yes, we’re very pleased to buy this colt so reasonably.”
