Super Seth made a fantastic impact as a three-year-old colt, especially when ‘coming from nowhere’ to beat race favourite and subsequent seven-time Group One Alligator Blood (All Too Hard) to win the Caulfield Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m).

Super Seth is a son of six-time Group One winner Dundeel, by sire of sires High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells), who is a very good sire in Australia, with over 50 stakes wins including 11 Group One.

With his oldest crop only two-year-olds, the progeny of Super Seth have really impressed the trainers that have them as horses with great natural strength and talent.

Only represented by a handful to race thus far, Super Seth son Poetic Champion won by over six lengths on debut and his filly Diablo Blanco also showed great acceleration when winning.

Dam Palomino (Exceed and Excel) is a half-sister to stakes winner Malice (Teofilo), from the family of four-time Group One winner Criterion (Sebring) and Comin’ Through (Fastnet Rock).

By one of the most versatile Champion Sires in Australia, Exceed and Excel joined an elite group with over 200 stakes winners and now making his mark, as expected, as a broodmare sire with over 70 winners including Group One winners Tuvalu (Kermadec) and Madame Pomeroy (No Nay Never) among daughters that have produced 14 Group One winners.

“The dam side blood is very strong, being out of a mare by Exceed and Excel and the grand-dam by Champion Broodmare Sire Encosta de Lago,” said David Ellis.

The filly has a cross of breed shaping sire Danehill (Danzig), on the dam line of Super Seth and sire line Palomino.
