Lot 87 bay filly Hello Youmzain – Flourishing (Makfi) $300,000 (draft: Pencarrow Stud)

A beautiful filly by first season sire Hello Youmzain (Kodiac), an extremely well bred colt on the Danehill (Danzig) sire line, out of a Shamardal (Giant’s Causeway) mare, who won two Group One sprint races on his way to becoming a leading European sprinter.

Standing at Cambridge Stud, Hello Youmzain carried their colours to victory in the prestigious Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Gr. 1, 1200m) at Royal Ascot.

Hello Youmzain was said by his trainer to have a great temperament and proved to be very tough and genuine racehorse.

Dam Flourishing, by very successful sire Makfi (Dubawi), who stood at Westbury Stud, won three times to 2000 metres and this is her second foal.

From a hugely talented race mare (Third Top Filly on the NZ Free Handicap), grand-dam Lafleur (Zabeel) won the Sir Tristram Fillies Classic (Gr. 2, 2000m) and in turn became a top broodmare, leaving five individual winners of 17 races including a Group Three and listed winners.

“She’s a beautiful bodied filly with plenty of substance and from a family that we know very well and have had plenty of success,” said David Ellis.

“Lafleur was a very good mare and she’s left some terrific gallopers, including Amaryllis that we trained to win eight races and Papilio that won four times.

“Pencarrow is a fantastic nursery that we have had so much success buying from over the years, including Darci Brahma, Burgundy, and training NZB Filly of the Year Insouciant for them.

“She’s an absolute star filly out of a great Pencarrow family and the influence of Danehill, Dubawi, and Sir Tristram in her pedigree means she carries the best bloodlines.

“From a family of this quality, the filly has enormous residual value, and also very current with this filly being just the second foal Flourishing.”
