Te Akau knows the dam side of this family very well, with half-sister It’s Business Time (Turn Me Loose) currently doing a fine job in the stable as an impressive winner of six races from 10 starts and most recently finished runner-up in the Coupland’s Bakeries Mile (Gr. 3, 1600m) during Cup Week at Riccarton.

By the greatest sire of stakes winners in the world, Galileo (Sadler’s Wells), Circus Maximus was a Champion Miler and triple Group One winner that won the St James Palace Stakes (Gr. 1, 1600m), a noted stallion-making race, and like Champion racehorse Frankel (Galileo) before him, won the Queen Anne Stakes (Gr. 1, 1600m) also at Royal Ascot.

Out of a talented Windsor Park Stud family, her third dam, Satirical (Kaapstad), left Champion Filly Star Satire (Volksraad), who was miraculously saved for breeding after breaking a leg, and she in turn left brilliant Australian filly Satin Shoes (Flying Spur) and Zarzuela (Zabeel).

The latter was trained by Mark Walker to win the Great Northern Guineas (Gr. 2, 2100m), Waikato Guineas (Gr. 3, 2000m), and Championship Stakes (Gr. 2, 2100m), before finishing third in the NZ Oaks (Gr. 1, 2400m).

“It’s a really good Windsor Park Stud family, one of their most talented and also one that we know very well and have experienced plenty of success with,” said David Ellis.

The filly carries a Northern Dancer cross on through her sire lines and Danzig on the dam line of Circus Maximus and sire line of Risque Business.
